David's Success Story

David had always struggled with math. He was starting a new private school in September so Mom and Dad decided to get him some help over the summer. David attended Huntington Learning Center focusing on remedial math skills, while also working on reading skills.

The last week of the summer, David attended "math camp" at his new school. He went home the first day and told his parents that he was the only student there who was able to answer the extra credit question. He also told them that it was all because of Huntington! Read More.

Chris' Success Story

Chris came to us as a very scared and angry kindergartener. When asked how she felt about being here she said she was very sad. She was diagnosed with language based processing problems and had been receiving services since she was 3 years old.

The school tested Chris, and said she was regressing; even though she was getting services daily in school, there was no progress. Mom's expectation for Chris's time here was just to learn to say the alphabet. Read More.

Laura's Success Story

Laura came to us at the end of her 10th grade year. Her parents had tried every type of tutoring that was available and were exasperated. Laura has auditory processing challenges and had very low self esteem since nothing had ever worked for her.

Laura was scared that she would never be able to retain information and learn. Laura enrolled. After two weeks, Laura was thrilled at the prospect that she really knew she was learning. She had hope and encouragement for the first time. Her scores improved. Laura started telling everyone she could that Huntington has changed her life. She had never felt like this before and felt "normal" like everyone else. She was so excited to start the school year armed with skills and the knowledge that she could do whatever she wanted to. Aaron's Success Story

When Aaron came to Huntington in February, he was going to be classified entering 2nd grade because he could not read. The school had him in a special reading program that was not helping at all. Aaron had no phonics skills and could not read anything in the evaluation. Worst of all, he had no self-confidence at all.

For the first several sessions, Aaron would walk into the center with his head down and just sat there telling us that he "was stupid." It was heartbreaking. After a few weeks, Aaron's confidence grew tremendously. He was acquiring his skills and beginning to read. Now Aaron walked in with his head high and smiling. Read More.

Jay's Success Story

Jay began with us in February 2006. He was a 1st grader who was in tears every morning going to school. Mom and Dad brought him to us in despair as the dreaded conversation of "promotion in doubt" had already occurred with his teacher.

Jay began instruction immediately and jumped straight into "Learning Center Life." Mom was overwhelmed with his attitude change  "He actually wants to go to school now. There are no more tears before breakfast." Read More.

Chris B.'s Success Story

When Chris was tested at the end of 4th grade last year, he could not read. His skills were so far behind that during the conference, Mom and Dad were not surprised by the results. Both his parents felt that school was not able to give Chris the skills that he needed in order to be reading for 4th grade.

Dad recently shared at that Chris was caught teaching his cousin how to read using the techniques he had learned at Huntington. Chris is now reading fluently and is very excited about his upcoming school year. We are going to have a school visit on Chris's behalf so that his teachers this year truly understand how much progress he has made this summer, and will continue to make moving forward. Read More.

Jill Success Story

Jill came to us as a junior in high school. Her parents were worried about college. With such obstacles as ADD and low confidence, we knew we would have our work cut out for us.

At times Jill was resistant in coming but Mom was her rock, always encouraging Jill to try her best and would not let excuses get in the way. Mom was so relieved to see progress on a standardized test that she let out a big sigh and said "Thank God." For this mom being able to see something as concrete as standardized test scores move in the right direction made all the difference in the world. Read More.

Nancy Success Story

Nancy was nervous, shy, and self-conscious. Even though she was finishing up her sophomore year of high school, she tested on a 6th grade level. Nancy's main goal in coming to us was to become a special education teacher. She did not want other kids to be treated the way she was.

Upon entering her junior year of high school, Nancy’s guidance counselor convinced her mother to send her to a vocational school for a year after graduation to gain the skills to become a secretary. Read More.

Dr. & Mrs. Huntington Success Story

Dear Dr. & Mrs. Huntington,

I have wanted to write you this letter for some time now to let you know about our big “success” story. Read More.

To Whom It May Concern: Success Story

I wanted to write a letter to thank you for the wonderful experience that we had with Huntington Learning Center. Your staff was always friendly and pleasant and always made my daughter feel right at home.

I brought my daughter, Paula to Huntington Learning Center in March 2006 through September 2006. This was the summer right before she entered into kindergarten. Her preschool teachers did not think she was going to be ready for kindergarten. She did not know her letters, or numbers, nor cared about learning in a school environment at all. I saw her differently at home but didn't know how to show others that she really can do that work if she was taught correctly. My niece, Cathy F., was referred to Huntington Learning Center for reading comprehension about five years ago and we saw terrific results. Knowing how well Cathy did, I thought I would give Huntington Learning Center the chance to teach Paula and get her ready for kindergarten. I was leery because she was so young but I felt something had to be done. Read More.
