Tutors Can Earn CEUs for Our Training

Through our partnership with Old Dominion University in Virginia, tutors who participate in Huntington's tutor training programs may earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

The Continuing Education Unit

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a nationally recognized unit of measurement for participation in noncredit continuing education programs. When our tutor elects to participate in our CEU program, she or he will have a permanent transcript of CEUs that may be useful for promotion, employment, or certification purposes.

One CEU is defined as ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction.

Objectives of awarding the CEU

  • To permit and encourage adult students to utilize a host of continuing education resources to serve personal and professional needs.

  • To give recognition to persons continuing their education and keeping up-to-date in their chosen field or profession.

  • To allow the accumulation, updating, and transfer of the record of individual participants who continue their education.
